Malaysia scraps usage of palm olein-based biodiesel
Malaysia has decided to replace the use if Envo Diesel biodiesel, made from palm olein, for diesel vehicles, with that from palm-based methyl ester.
The reason for dropping Envo Diesel biofuel, is because of concerns that it could affect car engines. Palm-based methyl ester, or B5, will initially be used by the government's fleet of diesel vehicles starting next February.
It will be offered at selected petrol stations. The government is also planning to increase exports of biodiesel to help stabilize falling palm oil process.
